Watch out for fake studies from the people trying to sell you

Watch out for fake studies from the people trying to sell you. The podcast blog supplement for iHeartRadio’s Wait What Really Ok Episode 57, “Why should I stop saying certain words when it comes to sales?”

watch out for fake studies, fake, faker

Watch out for fake studies

A salesperson shared a catalog with me recently. She also shared a study boasting how great this product was. The study looked a little questionable. So I looked up the study, the company, and the website.

Watch out for fake studies coming from sellers

It turned out that the website conducting the study was owned by the company selling the product. And it got worse, Complaints about the study were filed with a couple reporting and scam agencies. Still, worse, the companies representing counsel addressed only 1/3 of the issues and ignored the rest.

The study looked like it was trying to be government based and used words that seemed very educational. Yet, it was very easy to see red flags, which caused me to follow up.

So no purchase here for me, but it is unfortunate that this scam gets pulled on too many people, all too often.

Watch out for fake studies from the same people that are trying to sell you.

When someone presents a set of facts, a study or even paperwork, spend some time to look into who is delivering that information as much as the information being delivered. From checking whois.com to see if the websites or company is owned by the selling company to checking for incorporation records on state sites, your vetting can do wonders to keep you out of trouble.
watch out for fake studies, wait what really ok.
