Music consulting or music coaching is all about the artist and all about the artists responsibility to complete the tasks that are put in front of them. In many ways a music consultant or music coach is like a coach or a trainer. Depending on the services, the time frame, the sessions or the projects that you hire them for, they are there to get you in a place for you to be able to move forward, while learning how to make that forward motion happen for your self in the best way.

You wouldn’t ask a gym and a trainer for money back if it was a reputable gym with a solid trainer that gave you the right plan, helped get you going and then you decided not to follow through right? This happens every day and most would not ask for that money back. Yet, music consultants and music coaches delivering the same type of services are. Hmm, interesting huh?

A music consultant or music coach are trainers, coaches, guides and part time leaders in a way. The quality ones are going to lay out a path, explain how to make it work and work with you to move forward toward your goals. Every situation is unique and different. If you are paying for a package, you will likely have much more contact, if you are paying by the hour, it is more on you to do more of the work on your own.

Still, in the end, when it comes to a solid music consulting experience, it is the artists responsibility to search out the right person that has explained the process the right way, with the right plan to move in to place so the artist can make the most out of the package, the hours, the coaching or whatever they paid for.

In the long run, working with a good consultant or coach will be an investment in savings down the line. They can help save on percentages, they can save time and save a lot of money and bad decision making that you might have spent trying to do it yourself or signing with an agent, a manger or a label too quickly. When you have some one in your corner to guide you with out running you, lead you with out owning you, help you with out doing it for you, you are growing in the best way.

When you have some one that is teaching you while at the same time empowering you with the tools, the music business plan, the guide and the blueprint for the best chances at success, you are that much more likely to go where you want to. But remember, in the end it, is up to you doing the work that needs to be done to see the results you want to see for your music and your career.
