Things we say and do not think
A play on words of sorts. A famous movie referenced a mission statement that was titled things we think and do not say. In the movie, elements of the underlying concepts shared how people agreed with things but were to scared to speak up.
In the idea of Loren Weisman’s Brand Messaging Mission Statement, the title would be the opposite. The concept is that we say things but do not take the time to think them through from authentic, authoritative and strategic standpoints.
When we step back before we speak or say what we feel and look at the array of the landscape where we are sharing, we can adjust our messaging to be more effective. It is not about changing our story. It is much more about considering the other messaging being used, the other stories being told and finding the melody in a story to be beard above the unison of so many saying the same thing.
