Engaging and exploring autism with Doctor Todd Peter Levine.
Todd is amplifying the stories and experiences of autism through an engaging format.
Dr. Todd Peter Levine is the host of a new podcast called the Otherness Podcast. The show is exploring and engaging autism through experienced stories. Todd joins me on this episode to talk about his approach to sharing stories and creating a show that is less about the statements that try to set put autism in a box and is shifting amplifying the stories and experiences with a respect and an engagement I have not seen elsewhere.
His authority mixed with his humility and his passion to learn as much as he shares brings a different tone to autism.
“To be a narrator is not to steal the show. That is the role I am playing with the Otherness Podcast. I am narrating with a focus on curating and sharing an array of autism stories and experiences. I am not trying to find a cure for autism.” – Todd Peter Levine
I think I met Todd in the summer of 65. Wait, no, it was the summer of 85.
Sorry, Bryan Adams, we are not that old… but we are old enough to realize its summer of 69… still, trying to be funny.
We met at a summer camp in Massachusetts called Camp Frank A Day and then lost touch even though we grew up with in 45 minutes of each other. Todd ended up going to Amherst College (in the town I grew up in) as I took off and headed to Boston and Berklee College of Music.
Lots of funny missed connections through the years that brought us back together through social media.
Last fall, we reconnected online as Todd reached out and filled me in about how he because a doctor and how his focus is centered around autism.
His approach to move to stories and bring a greater understanding as a whole over trying to solve it or heal it also is one more aspect that makes Todd and the otherness Podcast stand out.
